Duration and Schedule

10 weeks — First Grading

 

  • 3 sessions a week
  • Monday 4:00-4:45pm
  • Wednesday 4:00-4:45pm
  • Saturday 9:15-9:45pm

Discipline

 

  • Kids self-defence using Thai boning techniques

Structure

Week 1 and 2

 

  • Introduction to the group, explanation of what self-defence means and general understanding of respect for the team, instructors and martial arts
  • Focus on posture, footwork and basic upper body defence

Week 3, 4 and 5

 

  • The kids start putting together basic combinations
  • Defensive techniques with partner drills, no contact

Week 6 and 7

 

  • More advanced striking, grappling and defence techniques are introduced with partner drills with very light contacts. No head contacts at any time during the whole program

Week 8, 9 and 10

 

  • Kids go through all techniques required for the grading
  • Practice with partner drills and we ask them to correct each other as much as they can in order for them to understand better all the moves

Last Day Of Program

  • Grading ceremony in front of all parents.
  • 6 instructors will assess each kid one by one giving them a score from 1 to 5. 3 is the minimum requirement to pass.
  • When kids don’t reach the sufficient score on a single technique we simply ask them to repeat it until they get it right. Usually takes no more than 5 times.
  • When all kids have completed and passed all the sections we start the ceremony.
  • An official signed grading certificate had previously been organised and sent from “Muay Thai System international ” association based in Melbourne. www.muaythaiinterational.com.au. Founder, Mark Castagnini
  • The kids are called individually by the instructors, they get given the certificate and a blue top which refers to level 2 grading.
  • We take a photo of each kid with the instructors and the certificate.
  • We finish the ceremony with a group photo and snacks for everyone

The kids can then continue the program following the system and can get graded red, green up to gold which takes up to 4 years.
